Pathology & Biopsy

Quality Oral Surgery for the Goodyear Community

Oral pathology involves the diagnosis and management of diseases affecting the mouth, jaw, and surrounding tissues. While many oral lesions are benign, early detection of abnormal tissue changes is essential for protecting overall health.

Signs That Require Evaluation

  • Sores that do not heal within two weeks
  • White or red patches inside the mouth
  • Lumps, swelling, or unusual growths
  • Persistent pain without clear cause
  • Changes in tissue texture or color

Our team performs comprehensive examinations and diagnostic imaging to identify suspicious areas.

Oral Biopsy Procedure

If further evaluation is needed, we perform a biopsy — a minor surgical procedure that removes a small tissue sample for laboratory analysis. Biopsies may be:

    • Incisional (removing a portion)

    • Excisional (removing the entire lesion)

Local anesthesia ensures comfort during the procedure. Once laboratory results are received, we review findings and discuss appropriate next steps.

Early diagnosis is critical in detecting precancerous conditions or oral cancer. Timely intervention significantly improves treatment outcomes and overall prognosis.

Our practice is committed to thorough evaluation, clear communication, and compassionate care throughout the diagnostic process.
